He started learning music at the age of 6, and aimed for a musical career early on, He attended Douglas Academy music school followed by the RCS, where he is now pursuing a PhD on classical improvisation for guitar and lute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Jacques specialises in classical guitar but has a wide range of musical interest and knowledge, being an experienced jazz musician and arranger. This has led to him playing in<br>many groups and bands in many different genres. Although classical music remains his primary focus, these other influences are distinctly felt in his compositions and arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He now works with Live Music Now Scotland, and most recently has been asked to write a new piece for the final night of the Cantilena Festival on Islay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jacques Carroll-Leitao is a guitarist, lutenist, composer and music researcher hailing from sunny Cumbernauld.
