The Lone Pine Pickers are a new band, formed in 2024. Brought together through a love of jazz, swing, and a shared passion for the music of Chet Atkins, Bob Wills, Hank Garland, Jimmy Bryant, Speedy West, Bill Frisell and other jazz inflected country music.
Featuring four of Scotland’s most in demand Jazz musicians, they perform an energetic blend of jazz, hot club and western swing, all played with a sense of fun and panache.
Ross Milligan guitar/vocal
Ross has performed in a wide range of musical styles and has toured and recorded with artists as diverse as Trip Hop Artist Tricky, Horse, Pee Wee Ellis, Ute Lemper, Emily Smith, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The RSNO, The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Scottish Guitar Quartet, Sequence and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
As a composer his music has appeared in TV and film worldwide.
Conor Smith guitar/pedal steel
Conor plays a brand of Jazz that blends various influences from the roots music universe. From Hot Club Jazz and Western Swing to 50’s bop and more modern Americana influenced sounds. He performs regularly with Rose Room and The Vintage Explosion and has a long list of credits as a sideman.
Roy Percy double bass
Roy’s slap bass skills are unrivalled! He has been a dynamic force in many bands since the 1980s, including the Classic Jazz Orchestra and Scotland’s leading gypsy jazz group, ‘Swing’.
He has collaborated with legendary American jazz artists Al Casey, Slim Gaillard and Marty Grosz, as well as top UK musicians Forrie Cairns, Alan Barnes and David Newton.
He regularly tours and records with Tim Kliphuis Trio.
